Civil War Baseball

As dedicated baseball fans, we always here of the great rivalries. Yankees - Red Sox, Giants - Dodgers, and Cubs - Cardinals. But last night, I experienced probably the most heated baseball rivalry, the Civil War.

The Ducks and Beavers reignited their baseball rivalry last Friday at PK Park after a 28-year hiatus. Playing at a sold-out PK Park, the Beavers took the first game 7-1. Last night, playing in a neutral site of PGE Park in Portland, the Ducks pulled off the shocker winning 3-2 in 10 innings. `

After attending those two games, I can reasonably say a few things:

#1 The Civil War rivalry doesn't stop on the football field or basketball court. PGE Park last night was very tense with chants, fight songs, and feuding fans. As both of these teams continue to see success, this rivalry will continue to grow and divide the state.

#2 The Beavers have a program established with a very dedicated fan base. The rabid Beaver fans at PGE Park were loud and boisterous the entire game. They have tasted the success and I feel that this could be the situation at Oregon in another couple of years.

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
